One night on the hook off Kayak Point, replacing the Eagle Harbor weekend after a 4 PM departure killed the distance. The point of the trip is the tender: the True Kit Navigator and the Torqeedo get their first real outing — deployment timed, boarding rehearsed both ways, a measured run for true range, a beach landing on county park sand, and an overnight recharge off the APEX stack so the kWh cost of carrying a tender is a number rather than a guess. Ten and a half miles each way inside Marine Area 8-2, nothing above 5 knots forecast either day, and the only real hazard is Saturday's morning fog on a boat with no radar.

Shelved: Not run — we stayed on the dock. The third plan over this window to come off, after Port Townsend and Eagle Harbor. Not the weather either: the departure window held 2.9 to 4.5 kt and clear skies, and the only real hazard on the page was Saturday morning's fog on the way home. The tender shakedown the whole trip was built around — timed deployment, a measured Torqeedo leg, and the watt-hour cost of an overnight recharge — still has not happened, and no cruise plan should assume a tender until it has.

Two nights at anchor in Eagle Harbor on a neap weekend with nothing above 10 knots, preceded by a Thursday night aboard at the slip: the APEX 300 stack goes in, gets strapped down, and the generator runs its first measured hour against it on shore power, where a bad result costs nothing. Friday night still runs on batteries alone — that is the number this trip exists to produce. Tender ties up free on the dock directly under the Harbour Public House, and the only fully plant-based kitchen on the island is a twelve-minute walk up the hill.

Shelved: Called off on the morning of departure — Rich could not make the dates. Not the weather: the 18 Sep rebuild had all three areas Good or better, the wind under 8 kt everywhere but the area-9 crossing, and the only real hazard was morning fog. The second plan over this window to come off, after the Port Townsend shakedown.

Shelved: Point Hudson guest docks closed from 14 Sep for about four weeks, and the generator did not arrive in time to make it the power shakedown it was meant to be. Replaced by 2026-09-18-eagle-harbor over the same weather window.
